A time to choose

It’s the time of the year once again when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. This year gave me so many blessings, and for that I am grateful. Life is not always without challenges and setbacks. Our chance to improve ourselves is in our own hands; use it. I decided to be productive and completed my second fiction book, which was a significant accomplishment for me. I plan to continue writing until my creativity ceases to produce compelling stories for my readers.

Just like me, I wish that whatever you choose for yourself will make your life content.

As for the season of giving, please give me a minute of your time to choose which one of the three designs you prefer for my second book front cover. Thank you so much.

Summer, then Fall

As we welcome Fall of 2024, let’s not forget the adventure we had last summer. I was fortunate to spend some quality time with my family. We explored Salt Spring Island and celebrated my brother’s 50th birthday in Las Vegas, which I promised not to visit again during the summertime. The intense heat made it difficult to fully appreciate the surroundings. But overall, it was a wonderful vacation for the family.

On every trip I took, I made sure to bring Revenge Mistaken along and introduce it to people. I had a chance to show it after we took some photos and it was such a rewarding experience when people took notice. This year marks the second year of my book’s publication, and the book continues to sell to this day.

It was not easy to be a self-published author. The hardest part is to have constant book sales. Continuous marketing, whether through social media or face-to-face interactions, is essential. The only powerful weapon I had was perseverance and believing that one day this book would make it to the actual bookstore shelves and display racks.

I hope you all had a wonderful summer and enjoyed the beautiful colors of fall.

Thank you to all who got a copy of Revenge Mistaken!!!

As a local author

I got invited to my local Richmond public library’s inaugural Writers for Readers event a week before spring arrived. It was my first time being invited as an author, so I was both overwhelmed and terrified at the same time. Before my book was released nearly two years ago, I had no prior experience interacting with readers in public. I was surprised to get the email from the librarian, and I remember I was gasping for air. Both excitement and fear filled me, but in the back of my mind, I knew that this was a great opportunity for me to interact with the public and get experience.

As a risk-taker, I responded to the invitation with a lot of questions. I want my first public appearance to be remembered. When the big day finally arrived, I never would have imagined that I would be calm, and I relished every second of setting up my table. Nine was my table number. Even though I was in the corner, I never felt excluded because I got to speak with the guests who came to my table as soon as the event began. And seeing my book on the library shelf was awesome.

The best part of the event was that I shared the experience with my nieces, Charlene and Jasmine. They silently supported me from the sidelines during the entire event. I was grateful that they came to join me, and I hoped they could continue my legacy. I have no children of my own, but I dedicated every word in my book to my family’s next generation.

And when I sold my first signed book for the day, it hit me that I have a community that is very supportive of authors like me.

Finally, I’m part of the Richmond community. Thank you for inviting me!

GRATEFUL FOR THE NEW LIFE EXPERIENCE. It was the start of a new beginning.

Home, at last!

My second book launch in the Philippines was held in Lucena City, where I grew up. I have no elder to whom I can devote my accomplishments; therefore, it was bittersweet for me. My mom and maternal grandmother were both teachers. They both enjoy reading, and if they’re still with us, I’m sure they’re quite proud of me.

I’m so lucky that even after more than thirty years, my high school friends are so generous with their time to join me on this wonderful day as a first-time author. Being around them makes me feel young again. Like yesterday, we were sixteen. #MaryhillAcademyBatch85

It was a truly memorable day for me, together with my childhood friends and their mom. It seemed strange to see them with my book. That day never crossed my mind as a possibility. A special event for special people is worth celebrating.

The presence of the head librarian, vice principal, and current school principal of my former high school was the highlight of my book launch in the Philippines. With the assistance of my high school friend, the current school dentist, it was feasible for them to attend the event. Students were present as well, and when they interviewed me, I was overcome with emotion. The fact that it happened seems unreal. I then got the opportunity to give the library a signed copy and the book poster. I’m honored and am experiencing a distinct degree of contentment.

My family is essential to the event’s success. Their efforts to ensure the celebration ran well were beyond words. The joy that this celebration brought us will always be engraved in my heart. I’m grateful that I was able to bring Revenge Mistaken home after a year of publication.

Thank you, Philippines, and until we meet again,
