Staff picks

As one of the eight books that Friesenpress Staff picks for the month of October 2023, I am grateful and, at the same time, surprised. I was in the Philippines when I received an email from my publisher, Friesenpress, congratulating me that my book, Revenge Mistaken, had been selected as a staff pick by a member of their publishing team. My book will be included as a featured title in the Bookstore’s Staff Picks section. And it also features a permanent badge to notify our customers of my staff pick status.

To me, this is major news. As I stated in my previous post, my initial objective when I started writing was to tell my story to my loved ones. However, life is amazing, and it led me to where I am today. I always remind myself that I have to start somewhere, even when sales aren’t going well. We can never predict what the future holds, and I might not be a known writer today. But in order to fulfill my objective of having my second book out next year, I will keep writing. To you, my audience, we can put in the effort and never give up on our self-belief, since nothing is impossible.

My Legacy

One year after launching my self-published book, the one thing I want to do is bring it to the Philippines and share it with my family and friends. I want to show them my hard work. This book is protected by copyright in Canada and is 100% owned by me. This copyright is still in effect, fifty years after my passing.

This is my legacy.

Please wait for another blog regarding my book launching in two cities in the Philippines soon. Goodnight everyone!

Books for Philippines

One book sale at a time

Let us begin 2023 with the second batch of signed copies for the Philippines. Over the weekend, I gave myself time to sign the pre-ordered books for my family and friends in Manila, Philippines. As a first-time self-published author, promoting my book to be included in the mainstream is really difficult. I contacted twenty local bookstores, but only a handful replied to my email, and only one was interested in hosting me for a book signing inside their bookstore. But I’m not complaining; I have to work hard to reach my personal goal of having my book on the shelves of every bookstore.

When? I have no idea, but I am keeping my faith that one day we could see Revenge Mistaken inside every bookstore. For now, I am reaching out to my network and their networks. One book sale at a time, rather than quitting in the middle of everything.

I hope I can find a bookstore owner in the Philippines who I can ask to host a book launch. As a Filipina author, I hope my Kababayan will be proud to see one of their own published a book in Canada.

Again, my book is a fiction romance, not my own story.

I’m thankful to those who ordered their books.

Manila, Philippines

Autumn meets Tropical

The sky is so blue, and the sun is a little bit shy about coming out. There is a distance of ten thousand five hundred sixty-two kilometers between Vancouver, BC, Canada and Manila, Philippines. Revenge Mistaken is having R & R with a dear friend of mine. After waiting for almost two months, Jacqui is finally holding her hardcover copy.

Thank you to all my friends who pre-ordered and got their copies.

For those who want to get a copy of my book, a new shipment will be arriving, hopefully ready for Christmas 2022. Please leave me a message and I will reserve a copy for you. If you want a signed copy, please let me know. Thank you and enjoy the rest of 2022.
